Exploring Europe!

How I Spent My 2017 Summer Vacation
By Sarah Lum, Treasurer

Earlier this year, right when I was getting a bug to travel again, some good friends mentioned they were heading to Italy for a week in July. My husband and I quickly decided to join them on their Italian adventure and to add on a few days in Switzerland.

While in Italy, we stayed several nights in an old farmhouse in Umbria. From there, we took day trips to Florence, Castiglione del Lago, and a local vineyard. We also had a couple days in Rome to tour St. Peter’s Basilica, walk through the Pantheon, and get a glance of the Colosseum. By the end of the week, our bellies were filled with pounds of pasta, pizza, and gelato.

Following our time in Italy, my husband and I took a bus to Switzerland. Our first day was spent hiking in the Alps, which was quite amazing. We spent our remaining days enjoying the sites in Lucerne and Zurich and, of course, eating Swiss chocolate.
