Artsmith Founder Nominated for Neighborhood Impact Award

Tricia Smith, President and Founder of Artsmith, was nominated for the Volunteer of the Year – Neighborhood Impact Award. The Volunteer of the Year Awards are administered by the Bronx Volunteer Coalition to celebrate Bronx residents who volunteer their time to help make the borough a better place. According to the BxVC, the Neighborhood Impact Award is given to “volunteers making a striking difference in their local community.”

Tricia was nominated for founding Artsmith and her tireless efforts to grow the organization and expand its programming. In addition to overseeing Artsmith’s general operations and running its inaugural program, Words vs. Pictures, Tricia added Bookworms and Beyond Words, two book clubs for elementary school and teen readers, to the organization’s offerings. She’s currently developing two additional programs for the upcoming school year. The number of students participating in Words vs. Pictures has doubled in the program’s second year and over 30 students have registered for the book clubs. The 2 upcoming programs will each have space for 20 students.

The Volunteer of the Year Award winners are chosen by public vote. You can help Tricia win this well-deserved award by voting for her at http://www.bxvc.org/neighborhood-impact-award/. You may vote one time each on any device that connects to the internet. Voting closes on May 8, 2017.
