The theme of the contest is “Street Art”. Submitted designs should showcase why the arts are important for young people and communities while highlighting the artistic and urban influences that have shaped the Bronx and New York City and influenced culture worldwide.
The contest is open to U.S. residents and runs from September 27, 2017 to November 22, 2017. Finalists and winners will be chosen in two categories – adult (18 and over by the end of the submission period) and youth (17 years old and under by the end of the submission period). Youth participants require parental/guardian permission.
Participants can submit their designs between September 27, 2017 and October 24, 2017. Our panel of judges (see below) will choose 5 finalists in each age group based on the following criteria:
Finalists will be announced on November 8, 2017. The public will be able to vote for their favorite designs between November 9, 2017 and November 22, 2017.
Winners will be announced at Artsmith’s Art Party and Award Ceremony on December 16, 2017. Winners need not be present.

The judges will choose 10 finalists (5 adult and 5 youth entries) which will be announced on November 8, 2017. For 2 weeks from 11/9-11/22/2017, the public will be able to vote once per day on each of our social media platforms for their favorite adult and minor entries.
The top three adult and youth finalists will receive prizes from CAT Footwear, From the Bronx, and more. See the contest rules for details.
No. The theme was chosen for the way street art and other art forms with Bronx roots reflect ideas and ideals that bring people together whether they live across the street or across the world. Your image should represent why the arts are important to young people and/or communities, however that looks to you.
Yes! Youth participants have their own age category and are encouraged to participate. We are a youth-serving organization, after all. Youth participants simply need permission from their parent/guardian and must submit the consent form signed by their parent/guardian with their entry.
Signed parental consent forms must be submitted with youth entries. Any youth entries for which we do not receive the consent form will be disqualified.
No. Since the contest is open to residents throughout the U.S. we understand all finalists may not be able to make it to the event. However, if you live in the area we encourage you to attend. It's going to be lots of fun!
